The Mechanical DownTime (MDT) application is a mobile solution designed to monitor, report, and escalate machine failures in manufacturing environments. It provides real-time visibility into machine status, response times, and maintenance activities.

MDT Dashboard

The dashboard provides an overview of:

  • Number of down machines (currently showing 4)
  • Average response time (currently 0:0:0)
  • List of machines requiring attention with their:
    • Machine number
    • Line information
    • Unit number

MDT Escalation

The escalation screen allows users to:

  • Select the affected unit (with code and description)
  • View line information (code and machine number)
  • Mark escalation time for the failure

MDT Reports

The reports section displays:

  • Worker statistics (for QA in this case)
    • Average response time (17:48:2)
    • Last maintenance time (0:0:7)
    • Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) (0:0:35)
    • Number of reasons (2)
  • Machine breakdown statistics
    • Machine Jam duration (0:0:28)
    • Material Shortage duration (11:35:37)
  • Mechanic statistics machine-wise with time metrics

MDT Permissions

The app requests:

  • Notification permissions for machine maintenance alerts
  • Provides options to “Allow” or “Don’t allow” notifications
  • Shows current unattended machines requiring attention
  • Machine status (up/down)
  • Response times
  • Maintenance durations
  • Failure reasons
  • Escalation timestamps
  • QA personnel
  • Maintenance technicians
  • Line supervisors
  1. Machine Failure Detection:

    • System detects and displays down machines on dashboard
    • QA personnel can attend to each machine
  2. Failure Escalation:

    • User selects affected unit
    • System records escalation time
    • Notification sent to maintenance team
  3. Maintenance Tracking:

    • Technicians record maintenance activities
    • System calculates response times and MTBF
  4. Reporting:

    • Generate performance statistics
    • Analyze common failure reasons
    • Track improvement over time

The app includes a push notification system to:
